Benha University Students Participate in International Summer School at Huazhong Agricultural University, China

A group of outstanding students from Benha University took part in the 2025 International Summer School for “Partners in Growth”, hosted by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) in Wuhan, China, from July 10 to 24. The program was held in collaboration with the Chinese Government Scholarship Council (CSC) and the National Talent Cultivation Program 2.0 in Basic Biological Sciences.

Coordinated by Dr. Mohamed Farahat Foda, the summer school brought together participants from Egypt, China, and several international institutions for an intensive two-week experience of academic enrichment, laboratory training, and cultural exchange.

During the program, Benha University students attended high-level scientific lectures from leading global experts in plant genomics, DNA modification, biotechnology, and sustainable agriculture. They also engaged in hands-on training in advanced research laboratories, including the Key Laboratory for Crop Genetic Improvement and Optics Valley Bio-City.

The students participated in collaborative workshops covering:

  • Nanotechnology in modern agriculture

  • Rice stress-resistance improvement

  • Protoplast transformation techniques

  • Reproductive biology in plants

Beyond the academic scope, Benha students explored Chinese culture through visits to the Yellow Crane Tower, Yangtze River, and the Luo Bei Museum, and took part in a traditional Chinese handicrafts workshop.

This participation reflects Benha University’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and enhancing the global competencies of its students in alignment with Egypt’s vision for academic excellence and research innovation.

Dr. Foda emphasized the significance of such programs in bridging cultures and advancing scientific collaboration, particularly in addressing global challenges like food security and climate adaptation.
